‘BOO! AT THE ZOO’ is a  series of Halloween events including: “not-so-scary Zoo Chats” on  bats, wolves and ravens, to a “haunted hayride,” costume parade and pumpkin-carving demonstrations.

  • Can you find your way out of the “Craized Maize” corn maze?
  • Cheer for the pumpkin or cheer on the “Pumpkin Smasher”
  • Take a spin on the “Creepy Carousel” *
  • Watch professional pumpkin carver create giant jack-o’-lanterns by carving 1,000 pound pumpkins
  • Stop by the Bright Start College Savings booth – grab a free candy bag and take a family photo in front of Bright Start’s exciting interactive screen!
  • Hop on the “Haunted Hayride” and go behind the scenes for a hauntingly good time *
  • At 1:00 p.m. the popular Costume Parade commences on the North Mall, goes around Roosevelt Fountain and concludes on the West Mall.
  • Participate in the Costume Showcase at 1:30 p.m. Prizes for best animal theme, scariest, most original and best group.
  • Build a scarecrow at the Hamill Family Play Zoo *
  • Great photo ops at several pumpkin patches
  • Watch animals enjoy their very own pumpkins at 11 a.m. each day!
  • October 17th – pumpkins to the Rhinos
  • October 18th – pumpkins to the Orangutans
  • October 24th – pumpkins to the Bears
  • October 25th – pumpkins to the Lions

 

Several not-so-scary animal Zoo Chats will be scheduled throughout the day.
11:30 a.m. – Bats Zoo Chat – Australia
12:00 p.m. – Wolves Zoo Chat – Regenstein Wolf Woods
12:30 p.m. – Spiders Zoo Chat – Hamill Family Play Zoo*
1:00 p.m. – Owl Zoo Chat in front of Hamill Family Play Zoo (weather permitting)
2:00 p.m. – Scorpion Zoo Chat – The Swamp
2:30 p.m. – Large Snake Zoo Chat – Feathers and Scales
3:00 p.m. – Raven Zoo Chat – Hamill Family Play Zoo*
