One of my favorite churches in Rome is the Basilica of Santo Stefano Rotondo al Cielo in the Lateran area of Rome. It is located on the Celian Hill which is also the site of the Basilica of Santi Giovnni e Paolo.

It was founded in the 5th century between 468 and 483 and is considered Rome’s oldest circular Christian church. It is adorned with 16th century frescoes that depict 30 gruesome stories of various martrys by Niccolo Pomarancio.
