Playa del Carmen has plenty of luxury residential condominium buildings, restaurants, boutiques and entertainment venues. Tourist activity in Playa del Carmen centers on Quinta Avenida, or Fifth Avenue, which stretches from Calle 1 norte to Calle 40.
I love this pedestrian walkway located just one or two blocks parallel to the beach. Fifth Avenue is lined with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. There are also many small boutique hotels and condo hotels on Fifth Avenue and on the beach.
The charming former fishing village has a broad range of tourist activities but one of my favorite is the annual Wine and Food Festival.
There are 7 events and more than 18 celebrity chefs that are participating in the 10th edition (2018) of the Event.
