Attend the 79th Annual Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival 2014. It is the the oldest state
chartered harvest festival in Louisiana.
The Festival honors the working men and women of both the seafood and petroleum
industries; which are the economic lifeblood industries of this area.
There is a Blessing of the Fleet and water parade with
shrimp boats, pleasure craft and the biggest “muscle boats” of the
oilpatch. There is also a toast between the King’s Vessel and the
Queen’s Vessel with a “bow-to-bow kiss” for the traditional champagne
The Cajun Culinary Classic features home-style Cajun cooking with jambalaya, fried alligator and plenty of shrimp. The festival will feature music of different genres and a regional crafts show and “Children’s Village.”
