Galena was the residence of Ulysses S. Grant, several other war generals and notable politicians. By the way, doesn’t he look alot like Robin Williams? Maybe they are related?
Many of the charming structures in Galena are within the Galena Historic District. This district is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Visit the Old Market House State Historic Site that was built in 1845; an interesting museum about local social history.
The 7th Annual Wine Lovers’ Weekend is one of the largest indoor wine tasting events in the state of Illinois. You can enjoy a spectacular weekend in scenic Galena. Indulge in wine tastings, winemaker dinners, antique shopping and winery tours. There are many local lodging and spa specials.

The Grand Tastings will offer samples from more than 300 wines.

Friday, March 23rd from 5:30-8pm
Saturday, March 24, 3:30-6pm
Advanced tickets online are $30; at the door, subject to availability: $35 Galena
Complimentary shuttle service will be available from downtown Galena (Galena Welcome Center, 123 N. Main Street) to Galena Convention Center every fifteen minutes during event.
