You don’t have to wait for Restaurant Week to enjoy San Diego‘s Foodie-obsessed Culture that stretches from the Gaslamp and Little Italy to the shores of La Jolla.
San Diego Restaurant Week had an elaborate kick-off event called #SDRWTaste2012 on Friday, September 14, 2012 from 5:00-9:00 PM at the Broadway Pier in the Port Pavilion; about a block away from the Santa Fe Depot Train Station.
Over thirty of San Diego Restaurant Week’s best restaurants served samples of house specialties paired with a unique beverage. There were about 20 local breweries, wineries and spirit companies. There was live music from the Dave Patrone Band. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Food Bank of San Diego.

This year’s event had an elaborate San Diego Taste Kick-off Party 2012 at the Broadway Pier with live entertainment, tasty tidbits from participating restaurants and interesting silent auction items. I loved the “Presidential Ceremonial First Pitch” pictures and the Beatle’s Memorabilia.

Many San Diego restaurant owners and chefs were there to promote San Diego’s Culinary Prowess. Paricipants could gaze at the Midway in San Diego’s Harbor and watch chefs prepare their culinary feats.
