Constantia Food and Wine Festival 2012 near Capetown South Africa

Affluent Constantia is one of the oldest suburbs of Cape Town. This area is a major tourist stop because it is famous for its lovely wine estates and outstanding restaurants. Some of the notable restaurants are: Pastis (French), La Colombe (French), Constantia Uitsig and Mama Roma (Italian).

The magical Constantia Valley wine region is having The Constantia Food and Wine Festival on May 4-6, 2012. There will be over 40 of the finest regional wines and plenty of delicious food from local restaurants. There will be live entertainment:

Friday, May 4th and Sunday 6th: Me and Mr Brown

Explore the gorgeous wine route in Constantia and visit centuries-old estates like Groot Constantia (Great Constantia) that was established in 1684 by the Dutch Colonial Governor of Cape Town, Simon van der Stel. Some of the other notable wineries include: Steenberg (Mountain of Stone), established in 1682, Buitenverwachting (Beyond Expectations), Klein Constantia (Small Constantia) and Constantia Uitsig (View of Constantia).

Durbanville Wine Valley Harvest Festival 2012 in South Africa

Durbanville is in the Western Cape province of South Africa and forms part of the greater City of Cape Town metropolitan area. Durbanville is surrounded by farms producing wine and wheat. The Durbanville wine route is about 20 km north of Cape Town. There are about wine estates on the beautiful, rolling Tygerberg hills, producing a wide variety of wines. The Durbanville Wine Valley celebrates the annual “‘Feast of the Grape” on March 21, 2012.

WHEN: March 21. 2012; Human Rights Day

The Durbanville Feast of the Grape is hosted on twelve wine farms. The day is filled with grape-stomping, wine, food, live music and hay rides in the vineyards.

Wine, Whales and Music: The 13th Annual Cape Town Jazz Festival 2012 in South Africa

Plan a trip to the southern hemisphere and get your tickets for the 13th Annual Cape Town International Jazz Festival. The Jazz festival is on March 30-31, 2012 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).

The festival is featuring multi Grammy award winner and back-to-back platinum selling vocalist James Ingram; best known for hits like: Yah Mo Be There, Baby Come To Me and How Do You Keep the Music Playing.

Returning to the festival is award winning sensation and internationally renowned jazz saxophonist Dave Koz with special guest Patti Austin performing with accomplished drummer Dave Weckl.

This part of South Africa has a vibrant wine industry. The wines of the Western Cape range from Rhone-style red wines to aromatic Sauvignon Blancs. The Cape Winelands and their cultural landscape were added to the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List on June 24, 2004 in the Cultural category.

The Cape Winelands are the largest wine-producing region in South Africa with six main wine routes: Constantia, Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Paarl, Robertson and Wellington. These are popular destinations for sightseeing and wine tasting.

In Cape Town, take a trip on the Hop-On Hop-Off Sight-Seeing Busto see the city. Cape Town has beautiful architecture and fabulous beaches. Check out the Victoria and Albert Waterfront with plenty of shops and restaurants.

Surfing is very popular and so is Whale watching. Southern Right Whales and Humpback Whales are seen off the coast during the breeding season from August to November.

Bryde’s Whales and the Killer Whales can be seen any time of the year. Heaviside’s dolphins can be seen from the coast north of Cape Town and Dusky dolphins live along the same coast and can occasionally be seen from the ferry to Robben Island.
