Elvis fans and impersonators converge on Memphis Tennessee during Elvis Week 2012 to commemorate the 35th anniversary of his death in 1977. His larger-than-life legacy consists of music, movies, photographs and a legend.
“In 1973, Elvis was the first entertainer to have a live performance broadcast around the world. Elvis continues to break records with over a billion records sold including over 150 different certified gold, platinum or multi-platinum albums and singles.”
The ”King of Rock ‘n’ Roll” lived at Graceland where you can join in the annual Candlelight Vigil on the night of August 15, when fans willgather at the gates of Graceland and walk up the driveway with a candle in quiet remembrance.
One of the most anticipated events is the Elvis 35th Anniversary Concert at the FedEx Forum on August 16. The Elvis Week Main Stage will host live concerts, dance parties, panel discussions with those who knew and worked with Elvis.
The 2012 Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest will feature more contestants than ever before competing for the crown. Contestants from the U.S., Canada, Australia and Japan want to take home the title of the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist of 2012. There’s a Graceland Trivia Tour, free entertainment tent at Graceland Crossing, 30th Annual Elvis Presley 5K Run, Elvis movies and much more. There is also a 100-booth merchandise and memorabilia fair at the Memphis Cook Convention Centre.
