Experience live jazz in downtown Glen Ellyn. Jazz in Glen Ellyn is featuring a line-up of Chicago’s favorite Jazz musicians. There will be plenty of food, wine, beer and other refreshments.

3:30-4:30 BakerzMillion

BakerzMillion is an all–star jazz sextet in the tradition of the classic Blue Note groups of the 1960s. Featuring Victor Garcia (trumpet), Jim Gailloreto (saxophones), Tim Davis (drums) and Matt Ferguson (bass), the band was formed in 2005 to perform new, original compositions by co–leaders Andy Baker (trombone) and Steve Million (piano).

5:00-6:00 Typhanie Monique

Typhanie Monique has achieved international status as a rising star vocalist by immersing herself in her true passion. Versed in a wide range of genres and influences including jazz, funk, hip-hop, pop and improvised freestyle, the soulful-voiced chanteuse, bandleader and songwriter has earned a reputation as a fearless boundary-crosser and a natural born frontwoman with superb scatting chops and well-honed emcee skills. Since her Chicago debut more than a decade ago, Typhanie has held court at famous jazz clubs and major music festivals throughout the world, leading legendary groups such as the critically acclaimed Typhanie Monique & Neal Alger Duo, the T. Monique Quartet, SUMO, Peking Turtle and Mr. Egg Germ.

6:30-7:30pm Marshall Vente & Tropicale

Marshall Vente is a professional and a pianist first. Over his career he has refined his talents as an arranger, composer, contractor, producer, MC and radio host. Initially drawn to music through classical piano and jazz, he has added all styles of popular music from hit recordings and big band to blues and Latin.

8:00-9:00pm John Moulder Quartet

John Moulder is a guitarist and composer whose music has evolved from an assimilation of various musical traditions. John’s compositions and playing are featured on his CDs entitled Awakening (Mo-Tonal Records 1993), Through the Open Door (Igmod/Mo-Tonal Records 1997), Spirit Talk (NAIM 2003), and Trinity (Origin 2006) and Bifrost (Origin 2009) both named one of the ten best jazz CDs of 2006 and 2009 respectively by the Chicago Tribune. On his most recent release entitled The Eleventh Hour: Live at the Green Mill (Origin 2012), John collaborates with his long time musical companions, Paul Wertico, Larry Gray, Jim Trompeter and Geof Bradfield.

9:30-10:30pm Paul Wertico All Star Quintet

Hailed by the press as “One of the most versatile and musical drummers in music today”, Paul was born on January 5, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois. At age 12, he learned how to read music and play drums and percussion instruments in grade school. At age 14, he got his first drum set and taught himself how to play it. By age 15, he was already playing professionally with various rock and jazz bands. By the early ’70s, he was a fixture of the Chicago music scene, playing and recording with a multitude of diverse artists including legendary jazz saxophonist Joe Daley, ethnomusicologist Paul Berliner, blues-rock vocalist/guitarist Ellen McIlwaine, rock singer Adrian Smith, folk singer Terry Callier, ECM-influenced guitarist Ross Traut, the fusion-based Simon & Bard Group, and a whole list of others. Always active in various realms of creative and avant-garde music, he most notably started two cooperative bands — Earwax Control with multi-instrumentalist Jeff Czech and keyboardist Gordon James, and Spontaneous Composition with multi-reed player Rich Corpolongo and bassist Doug Lofstrom.
